2010 Burgonet
Provenance:
2010 TR Elliott Burgonet Pinot Noir is a selection of nine barrels from our O’Connell Vineyard.
Color:
The color is a rich, dark plum.
Aromatics:
The nose is intense, filled with both earth floor and roasted game. Hints of currant, fennel and dark cherry add delicacy and brightness.
Palate:
Burgonet is evolving. Cherries, plums and orange peel weave into musk and root vegetables. Fresh and lively black pepper blend with cola. The finish is long and mouth-watering. 2010 Burgonet will evolve and integrate gracefully for many years.
Harvest & Winemaking:
The grapes were handpicked on September 25th with yields of 1.8 tons per acre. The grapes were hand-sorted, cold-soaked and fermented (20% whole cluster, native yeast) in small open-top stainless steel vats prior to aging 11 months in French oak barrels. A poor flower set in May and two days of extreme heat in June stressed the vines, and led to the intensity of the 2010 vintage.
