Vineyard locations are selected with great care. The right soil, climate and clonal selection, along with attentive farming, provide the foundation for high-quality wines. A long, cool growing season and sandy loam Gold Ridge soils comprise the terroir of our Vineyards.

Color:

The color is a beautiful raspberry red.

Aromatics:

Strong aromatics of dark fruit, spice, forest floor and mushrooms.

Palate:

2013 Burgonet is a complex wine with tastes of dark cherry and ripe plums. The fruit quickly leads to rich flavors of toasted oak, caraway seed, and nutmeg. The mouth feel is full, with firm structure and balance. The finish is long, rich and smooth. (Tasted September 6th, 2015)

Harvest & Winemaking:

We handpicked these vineyards in September of 2013, vinifying each vineyard separately. The grapes were hand- sorted, cold-soaked and then fermented (20% whole cluster) using native yeast in small open-top stainless steel vats. After aging 11 months in French Oak barrels, we hand-selected the six barrels for our Burgonet cuvée.

Two acres of Elite vines were planted on a southwest facing mid-slope at Bootlegger’s Hill Vineyard, which has serious coastal influence as it sits at 750 feet in elevation atop the Occidental Ridge in the Western Reaches of The Russian River Valley. Bootlegger’s Hill Vineyard is owned by noted Russian River Valley grape farmer Charlie Chenoweth, Rock-Star Sonoma County winemaker Michael Browne (of Kosta Browne and Cirq.), and TR Elliott founder and proprietor Ted Elliott.

The color is a dark ruby red.

Aromatics:

A unique cool climate terroir of forest conifers boasting red cherries and delicate strawberries punctuated with baking spices and crushed rose petals are woven together in the aromas.

The nose seamlessly flows into a mouth of bright red cherry, a silky mid-palate with licorice, a touch of shaved sandalwood, and lovely tannins. Great acidity, rose and pomegranate notes characterize a long finish.

Harvest & Winemaking:

We handpicked the Bootlegger’s fruit on September 17th 2013. There were a total of four tons from this two-acresite. The grapes were hand sorted, then fermented in small stainless steel vats (20 percent whole cluster). Bootlegger’s Hill was then barrel aged in French oak from Tonnellerie Remond’s Allier forest for 11 months. Three of the eleven Bootlegger’s Hill barrels were hand selected for this TR Elliott single vineyard wine.
